The graduate has theoretical and practical knowledge in his/her field (linguistics and philology of a specific language or language family of Asia and Africa), a good overview of general linguistics and the ability to apply general objective judgement and critical thinking also in other related humanities disciplines. The graduate has been trained for independent scientific work in his/her discipline and may be employed in professions where the knowledge of the respective language, of general linguistics and of philological procedures is required.
The graduate may also work in demanding areas of applied linguistics such as interpreting of technical lectures or technical translation of linguistic publications etc.
