The graduate of the doctoral programme in Middle-Eastern Studies is an expert on a specific segment of the discipline, typically covering a specific historical period and/or subculture and/or region or a literary corpus. He/she is capable of professional academic work and has mastered at least one source language at academic level.
He/she has a thorough command of the relevant sources and can interpret them in the light of recent secondary literature. He/she can present the original results of his/her research in at least one world language and publish in international academic journals.
He/she can critically analyse the relationship of Europe and the Middle East. He/she can apply his/her academic skills in teaching and popularization of science.
