Graduates in Botany, speciality Bryology and lichenology, have ample knowledge about diversity, evolution, and biology of non-vascular plants, lichens, fungi, and algae. They have been trained in biosystematics and ecology of organisms as well as in experimental field and laboratory techniques.

They can continue in doctoral studies towards a scientific career or find employment in basic and applied research. The graduates are experts particularly in the systematics, diversity, and ecology of bryophytes and lichens.

They comprehend ecology and distribution of species, their communities, and interactions with other groups of organisms and environment. The graduates can apply their expert knowledge of species bioindication values to evaluate natural status of habitats for purposes of nature conservation and landscape management.
