Qualification Requirements for Education in Regions of the Czech Republic

Abstract

The objective of this publication is to map the development of labour market structures in all fourteen regions of the Czech Republic and to outline a direction where each region is expected to be heading. Each region is described in a separate chapter.

These chapters have a similar structure. At first they identify the region?s geographic position and the main macroeconomic indicators such as the gross domestic product, labour productivity and the available income.

Then there are paragraphs concerning an analysis of the age structure of the region?s population both in terms of industry, occupation and education. The following analysis of jobs is focused primarily on their skills intensity.

All parts of the text analyse the developments in the region from the mid-1990s until the present, and also include projections of the expected development until 2017. The final part analyses ways in which education in individual regions affects the rate of unemployment, the average wage levels and the skills inten
