Abstract

The paper presents the goals, scope, theoretical background and methodology of a dissertation project called The influence of selected and systematically-used methods for the teaching of pronunciation on the perception and production of ? schwa? by Czech pupils of English. The paper further focuses on the current state of the research which involves the development of a reliable measuring instrument for testing the target sound.
