Effect of alloying on the corrosion of Mg alloys for implants

Abstract

Corrosion behaviour of broad spectrum of Mg alloys with rare earths is evaluated. Corrosion rate is up to two orders of magnitude lower than for pure Mg.

Basic model of corrosion mechanism is presented.
