In the collection of fifteen essays the authour develops his own philosophy of dialogue between faith and infidelity. One of the many inspirations of his reflections was the challenge, that the pope Benedict adressed to those, who cannot accept God, "to live as the God existed".
The author asks first of all what then exactly distinguishes the life of believers and that of nonbelievers, and than whether believers can conceive the faith as hypothesis, which is to be unceasingly tested through their own lives
