Importance of the study of thermal properties in the research

Abstract

The results of the thermal expansion and the thermal diffusivity are presented in dependence on the temperature for Ni-Mn-Ga base shape memory alloys. Influence of the thermal history and pre-deformation on the transformation strain and hysteresis is studied and analyzed.

Influence of the latent heat on the temperature distribution is also analyzed in the transformation temperature range. TAME (thermal arrest memory effect) effect is described and clarified.

This work shows that study of the thermal properties is important for understanding of the martensitic transformations and their using in praxis.
