NMR Investigation of Magnesium Specific Binding to DNA Duplex

Abstract

This work deals with interaction of DNA and magnesium ions. Two self-complementary DNA oligonucleotides, namely 5'-GATGCATC-3' and 5'-CTTGCAAC-3', were employed as molecular models of DNA duplex.

Their high resolution H-1 and P-31 NMR spectra were measured as a function of magnesium concentration in aqueous solution.
