The Concept of Number and Its Logic. The Development of Foundations of Arithmetic by Frege, Gödel and Lorenzen

Abstract

The article deals with the evolution og the foundations of arithmetic: from the auspicious beginnings with Frege and Dedekind (logicist thesis) through cataclysm of Russell's antinomy (intuitionis antithesis) to the late writings of Hilbert and the work of Paul Lorenzen (operativist and constructivist synthesis).
