Abstract

Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a multifactorial disease and major cause of morbidity and mortality. We describe changes in haemostasis in females on oral contraceptives, risk factors for VTE and also the role of inherited thrombophilia in this settings.

We propose the alghoritm before the prescription of oral cntraceptives with the aim of minimalization of risk of VTE.
