John Hoffmann: the Prague Student, Anti-Hussite Representative and the Bishop of Meissen

Abstract

The study analyses the motivation of predominantly Silesian students after their departure from Prague university to Leipzig or to other places in 1409. The author focuses on the connection of their anti-Hussite agitation and their experience enjoyed at Prague in 1409.

The life events of John IV. Hoffmann from Swidnica, Catholic bishop of Meissen, sets for an example.
