Abstract

The article addresses key features and metamorphoses of religion in Papua New Guinea, which is situated in broad region of Melanesia. In the article is devoted special attention to the dynamic relations between a sorcery, Christianity, and cargo cults.

Under the long-term influence of missionaries as well as colonial administration traditional religions in Papua dramatically have been change. Nowadays Christianity is not heterogeneous religion in Papua; it is organic component of Papuan worldview and has impact on the all facets of Papuan cultures.
