The reason for the statin drop after extracorporeal LDL-cholesterol elimination in familial hypercholesterolemia

Abstract

The purpose of this work was to identify the mechanism underlying the drop of statins after LDL-cholesterolelimination. A specific loss of statins was found in adsorbent capsules and filters, especially during hemorheopheresis.

The decrease in statin levels can be prevented by the suggested dosage scheme.
