Abstract

Mental and physical performance can be negatively affected from under 0,01 % of blood alcohol content. Thus, soldiers cannot be allowed to perform their jobs impaired by alcohol.

Detections of soldiers impaired by alcohol are rare due to relatively easy control of blood alcohol content and highly negative impact of detection on job carreer. However, nowadays soldier are not prohibited to consume alcohol out of their jobs.

In this study MMPI scores in scales related to alcohol consumption (MacAndrew alcoholism scale, Addiction admission scale, and Addiction potential scale) were used to identify soldiers who might tend to abnormal consumption of alcohol. We hypothesized that these soldiers will perform worst mentally and physically comparing to those whose score does not reach clinically relevant level.

This assumption was not proved. It might be explained by possible short period in which alcohol is consumed.
