Experimental study of high Rayleigh number convection using cryogenic gaseous 4He

Abstract

Turbulent thermal convection was studied using cryogenic He gas. In order to resolve controversies among published results of Nusselt versus Rayleifh numbers at very high Rayleigh numbers a cryogenic apparatus was designed and built.
