Abstract
The article analyses some basic terms of the theory of standard language expanded by Vladimir Barnet in the Prague linguistic circle: communicative space, communicative sphere, communicative situation, language bearer, language situation, norm, idiom and style. It concerns terms, which are essential for theoretical analysis of a language situation and for theoretical consideration of the langue / parole relationship in variability.
On this basis the current applications of these terms summarized, these are explored in detail in the book by H. Gladkova and I.
