Language law in the European practice. Two cases of language management

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2010

Abstract

This chapter aims at presenting some tools by means of which various socially relevant language problems can be described and analyzed. These analytical tools are delivered by Language Management Theory.

What is, or is not, a language problem can be perceived individually in a different way. The theory analyzes the behavior toward language as it appears in discourse both at the micro, and at the macro-level of social processes.

This chapter presents the types of texts creating the legal discourse of the law in books and the law in action, including their different pragmatics. Two cases of language problems that were co-decided by the European Court of Justice are analyzed.
