Abstract
The submitted text is a critical edition of the diaries of social democratic lawyer Zdenek Peska who spoke out against the Czechoslovakian Communist Party’s effort to dominate public life in the years of so called “Third Republic” (1945 – 1948). This edition also contains biographical study that describes the origin of diaries and their seizure by the communist secret police.
