Development of locative prepositions and constructions in preclassical and classical French and the concept of strong/weak locativity

Abstract

Based on both synchronic and diachronic analyses of French locative prepositions and constructions (en, dans, sur, a), the paper expounds the theory of double (strong vs weak) locativity in its development from the preclassical period.
