Abstract

Cognitive functions impairment as a consequence of a head/brain injury represents a wide-ranging and heterogeneous spectrum of disorders. Seriousness of such disorders, as well as their duration and extent of recovery depend on both severity of the trauma itself (i.e. on a primary process) and consequent events inside the skull (i.e. on a secondary impact).

In general taxonomy, severe, moderate, and mild forms of traumatic impairment are described.
