Abstract

In the foreground there is literature and art at the end of World War II in the tension between utopian and apocalyptic discourses of the expressionism and nihilism of Spengler’s “Decline of the West“, the absurdity of Dada-manifestos and speculation about the new idealism of Max Dvořák’s "art history as the history of the spirit".
