Abstract

The book brings an overall description of the ancient languages from Mesopotamia, Asia Minor, ancient Iran, Syropalestine and Arabia from the most ancient records to the 7th century A.D. It offers an ethnolinguistic overview of the areas of the ancient Near East, linguistic characteristics of the most important languages and information on individual languages together with an introduction to the scripts used by the languages.
