Abstract

Rhodium deposited onto cerium dioxide thin films was exposed by molecular beams of CO and O2. Production of CO2 was studied in dependence on substrate temperature and structure and oxidation state of prepared samples.

Polycrystalline CeO2 films as well as oriented CeO2(111)/Cu(111) ones were used. The results exhibit the dependence of CO2 production on original condition of used samples – oriented – polycrystalline or oxidised – reduced.

These effects are discussed with regard to XPS spectra obtained at particular steps of experiment.
