The Czech Concept of Citizenship : Transformations in the Course of the 19th Century

Abstract

Using the Czech example, this text reviews briefly the reasons that make it advisable to analyse separately the trajectory of the concept of citizenship in each national context, illustrating how the semantic roots and cultural and political development shape the way the corresponding term is understood today. The book focused on the main theme of the project is a product of the Network of Excellence CLIOHRES, supported by the EC through the 6th FP of its Directorate General for Research.
