INFLUENCE OF SOCIAL STATUS AND MATERIALISTIC VALEUS ON SUBJECTIVE WELL-BEING IN HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Abstract

The work is based on several main theses. The first of these is that the choice of a secondary school (high school, college or vocational school) is largely determined by social status of families.

According to the second argument has the type of secondary school a significant impact on a materialistic value orientation of students - students of high schools are the least materialistic and vocational students most materialistic. According to the third argument will be students the more satisfied with their lives, the less they are materialistic (the less they are convinced that owning material goods is a prerequisite for achieving happiness).

We elaborated these thesis in the eight hypotheses. These hypotheses are tested on a sample of 395 students of high schools, college and vocational schools.
