Abstract

Author deals with the characteristics and relevance of the office of the sheriff (capitaneus) in context of the development of the land administration in other Crownlands of the Bohemian Crown. The sheriff, who was called Landvogt in the Upper Lusatia, represented the Bohemian king, who nominated marshal to his post.

The members of the king´s court standing close to the ruler usually became the sheriff.
