The study deals with the analysis of the consecration sermon of the Church of Our Lady in Zittau from 1619. The author analyses the Lutherans' relation to the pictures and the artistic decoration in the sacred space at the time of the culminating confessionalisation.
The author points out especially the significant symbolical worth of the sacral art for the Lutheran confessional identity (or the confessional culture). With their positive and "correct" relation to the sacral art, the Lutherans delimitated themselves against the "iconoclast" Calvinism and partly also against the Catholicism.
