Abstract
Czech structuralism remains largely unknown in current translation studies and is more or less identified with Russian formalism, considered surpassed by French poststructuralism. It is also assumed that Czech structuralism was positivist, non-functionalist, non-dialectical etc.
The essay explains its roots, methodology and epistemology in comparison with other structuralisms and current neo-structuralisms.
