2009

Abstract

The book deals with historical development of Central Asia since migration of Kazakhs and Uzbeks till the bolsheviks took the power in 1924 and created Soviet Republics. Special attention is paied to national movements at the beginning of the 20th century (Alash movement in contemporary Kazakhstan, Turkestan autonomy in contemporary Uzbekistan.).

The national movements culminated in attempts at political indipendence in 1917. The monography is also devoted to etnic arguments of above mentioned development which seem to be too intricate and need to be reinterpreted.
