Laboratory diagnostic changes in diabetes

Publication |
2010

Abstract

Short communication deals with recent information on significant changes in diagnosis and managing the diabetes. Instability of sample for measurement fasting plasma glucose, different and unsuitable criteria for external quality assessment, low analytical quality of personal glucometers and possibilities for continual monitoring the glucose in interstitial fluid are objectives of presentation.

New measurement units after finished standardization and newly proposed using the HbA1c as diagnostic tool for diabetes are introduced. By means of results in some EQA schemes are also demonstrated levels of precision, bias and state of used control limits
