Abstract

The small intestine, which plays a role in the absorption of nutrients that are essential to maintain life, is an important immune organ that serves as a barrier against foreign antigens, and its functions are while intricately interrelated with the autonomic nerves and endocrine system. The chapter concerns about anatomy, patho-physiology and small intestinal diseases and therapy.
