Abstract

The development of flexibility refers to the amplitude, speed and preciseness of movement. In habitual daily activities, as well as elite sports, flexibility is an important factor of physical performance.

Not only poor flexibility, but also hypermobility, on the other side, could leads to injuries and disturbances of the locomotors system. For diagnostic of the flexibility are commonly used simple measuring techniques (goniometry) or advanced kinematic methods using the camera system.

The range of motion (ROM) is influenced with joint's and muscle's proportions. The flexibility is closely related to muscle's length and tension.

It is necessary to evaluate the flexibility together with muscle's imbalances.
