Cardiac remodeling and MMPs on the model of chronic daunorubicin-induced cardiomyopathy in rabbits

Abstract

The cardiac remodeling was characterized by the production of both types collagen, but type III was produced predominately at the beginning, whereas type I collagen was typical of the advanced stages. Immunohistochemical analysis revealed increased MMP-2 expression in both cardiomyocytes and fibroblasts.
