Abstract

Primary sclerosing cholangitis is disease of unknown etiology with autoimmune features that causes progressive narrowing of bile ducts and cholestasis and leds to liver cirrhosis with liver failure. Complicated is by portal hypertension.

Notable is the tendency to development of cholangiogenic carcinoma and increased incidence of the colorectal carcinoma. Effective treatment is liver transplantation only.
