Abstract
Placebo-controlled randomized clinical study evaluated the administration of the prebiotic in patients with acute pancreatitis. Infection of the pancreatic necrosis is significant complication that impairs the prognosis of the disease.
The aim of the study was to confirm the possibility of prevention of this complication by administration of prebiotic. In the group treated by prebiotic was lower level of endotoxinemia but mortality, microbial growth and length of hospitalization were not different.
