Czech membership in North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has an influence on mutual Czech-American relations. Since March 12, 1999, when the Czech Republic entered into the NATO Alliance, Czech soldiers have taken part in all key activities of the Alliance including military missions outside the area of the Alliance.
In recent years, the Czech Republic and Poland were selected by Americans to host military bases with components of American defense against ballistic missiles. This article argues that in order to comprehend this step, it is necessary to understand Czech-American military cooperation.
It is therefore necessary to examine the nature of the NATO, the military alliance connecting the two nations.
