Significance of Olfactory Perception of People with Visual Impairment

Abstract

Olfactory sense is considered as one of the compensatory senses in the special educational practice. The advanced thesis is focused on examination of olfactory sense in people with visual impairment.One of the applied methods was the critical analyses of professional literature in order to understand the structure of olfactory analysers, the process of transformation in olfactory information, the level of olfactory perception during the development and maturation of individual, and the function of olfactory sense in people with visual impairment within the context of current research in olfactory perception of these people.

The research was evaluated on the basis of standardized mathematical and statistical methods. The individual tests were evaluated according to standardized manuals, which are part of the tested sets.

The gained results of olfactory perception of people with visual impairment were compared with the control group’s results via t-test.
