Abstract

Our goal was to optimize separation conditions for determination of amino acids, respectively proteins, by gas chromatography and the results compare with those obtained using mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS). Our method was applied on identification of proteinaceous binders contained in model samples of color layers of artworks, which were prepared by mixing of egg yolk, whole egg, casein tempera, and animal glue with ten inorganic pigments.
