The Case of the Ordered Ultimatum. Austria-Hungary and the Submarine War in the Year 1916

Abstract

Article deals with the diplomatic relations between the US and Austria-Hungary during the first half of 1916. Negotiations on regulations of the submarine war allegedly led the Secretary of State Lansing to the instigation of Central Powers to sent an ultimatum to the US in the matter of the merchant ship armament.
