Origins of the theory of matrices in the Czech lands, especially the Weyr's theory

Abstract

The aim of the paper is to introduce main results which are connected with the theory of matrices and which were enunciated in the Czech lands to the end of the 19th century. Czech mathematician Eduard Weyr published his original worldwide reputable results in the second half of the 19th century.

We also mention some Czech textbooks on algebra which were written in this period.
