Rationalism and humanism in the works and life of the byzantine author Michael Psellos

Publication at Faculty of Arts |

Abstract

The article discusses the thought and works of the byzantine author Michael Psellos, whom we can understand as a predecessor of renesance thought. His exceptionality is centred around the fact, that he was able to unite Christian philosophy with a more broader philosophical humanist overview.

The article demonstrates that in the though of Pselos there is no such thing as a conflict between Christianity, rationalism.
