Abstract
Childbirth is not always associated only with feelings of joy and happiness. Occasionally it happens that there is a stillbirth of the baby.
The study deals with the role of the midwife in these cases. The principles of correct communication in critical situations in the delivery room are described and possible negative reactions of the woman in labour to the bad news are summed up.
The authors describe how to manage such delivery and how to involve the partner. They outline the basic delivery diagnoses.
They mention the importance of most effective pharmacological analgesic methods at labour – epidural analgesia. The study emphasises the indispensable role of midwives.
