Abstract

The morphological description of Early to Middle Miocene tadpoles from Shanwang Basin (Shandong Province, E China) is provided. On the basis of the body shape and association with adult individuals the studied tadpoles were assigned to the family Ranidae.

This series of tadpoles is the first evidence of relatively complete larval and metamorphic development of nonpipoid anuran amphibians.
