The article focuses in relations between the Roman Society and the Christians regarding to the Ruler cult and related activities or rituals. Roman imperial cult and worship of the Emperor and his family seem to be more popular and more spontaneous than has been until recently presumed.
The article mentions relatively peaceful coexistence between Rome and the Christians until beginning of the 3th century. Since than a tendency to confrontation intensified on both sides.
In order to reinforce its inner power the Roman state attempts to claim active participation of its subject in Ruler cult. The Christians have already created their own – contra-cultural – model of society.
They begin to incline to voluntary martyrdom as culmination of Christian temporal journey. These tendencies reflect in contemporary literature.
