Fine structure of the midgut epithelium of Atelura formicaria (Hexapoda: Zygentoma: Ateluridae), with special reference to its regeneration and degeneration

Abstract

Midgut epithelium of Atelura formicaria is composed of epithelial cells and regenerative cells which form regenerative nests.Regenerative cells are of two types, differentiating and resting. Regenerative cells represent stem cells in insects.
