The review study summarizes recent research that deal with quality of school life including approaches that aim at influencing its quality. It characterizes the concept of psycho-social climate of school and the concept of quality of human life.
It deals with two dominating trends in empirical research of quality of life: exploring the personal well-being based on the category of happiness and psychological well-being research based on the category of self-actualization. Further it summarizes research results that deal with the quality of school life of students on the one hand and of teachers on the other hand.
The final part of the study draws attention to methodological problems that make the research of school life quality complicated. The study emphasises the necessity to individualize both the assessment and intervention.
