Phenology observations in Czechia - history and present

Publication at Faculty of Science |
2010

Abstract

The Czech Meteorological Service took over whole phenology network (1000 stations) in 1940 including the data archives from 1923. The phenology stations had a similar density as the precipitation network.

Gradually the number of phenology stations reduced and around 1985 the general network became specialized into those recording field crops (83 stations), fruit trees (32 stations) and wild plants (48 stations). Phenological yearbooks were produced until 1960..

These phenology data are useful for evaluating climate development in the period prior to climatic measurements.
