Abstract

The main aim of the present study is translation and intercultural validation of a Czech version of the Individual Zones of Optimal Functioning questionnaire (IZOF). The IZOF model is a reputable mthod in a sport psychology field.

This model stresses the importance of both pleasant and unpleasant emotions on an athlete's successful and unsuccessful performance patterns. The main purpose of IZOF is to describe, predict, better understand, and explain the dynamics of emotion-performance relationship.

The Czech version of IZOF will be designed in a cooperation with experts from field of sport psychology, using results from qualitative research requesting athletes to generate emotions experienced prior to and during their performance and also the existing emotion and affect scales in Czech will be analysed. The first Czech version of the IZOF questionnaire will be analysed in a pilot study and the final version will be used in a study incorporating 200 students of FTVS UK.
