The diversity of culturable filamentous soil microfungi in saline and acidic soils of the Soos National Natural Reserve (CR) was studied. Altogether, 28 soil samples were collected during 2003-2005, from four sampling sites and were processed by various cultivation methods.
In total, 92 fungal taxa were identified using classical and molecular markers. Several species were known from similar substrata worldwide; however, the overall fungal spectrum was distinct, as shown by comparison to similar studies.
The most distinct community characterized by low diversity and presence of acidophilic species was observed on extremely acidic site (pH 3).
